Safety in Mexico
An August 27, 2010 report in The Economist on Mexico's security situation has painted a more detailed picture than the one we hear about in the news. A detailed breakdown of violence shows that, if you pick your state, you're as safe - or even safer - than in any other N.American country.
Mexico's death rate is bumped up by extraordinarily high levels of violence in four states: Chihuahua, Durango, Sinaloa and Guerrero - the Border states.
But even on average, Mexico is more secure than countries like Brazil or Jamaica. Avoid the hotspots and it's downright safe.Remember, Mexico is a big country and Rio Caliente is located in a state forest, a good 45 minutes from the City of Guadalajara and far away from those border towns.
In Guadalajara, airport taxis are registered by the government and are very safe. If your plane arrives before 7.00 am or after 7.00 pm, when the forest gates are closed, one of our drivers can pick you up, as they have access through the forest.
In a survey we conducted just over a year ago, almost 80% of our guests ranked Rio Caliente 4 to 5 stars for Security.
