Tlaquepaque

Tonala

The ancient village of Tonala is the home of many local potters, metal workers and glass blowers, and host to a major street market on Thursdays and Sundays. The extensive craft and antique market draws local and visiting shoppers to Tonala.
Teuchitlan

This rural village is the center of a pre-Christian civilization and site of circular pyramids known as Guachimontones. The recently-restored site (in the last five years) is a fascinating and beautiful place. The pyramids are built on the hills above an ancient volcanic lake, which provided the water for a rich agricultural base that gave rise to the stable city-state that built this ceremonial center.
Tequila

In the village of Amatitan, a beautiful old adobe hacienda is now the home of Tequila Herradura. A tour of the tequila factory will teach you how the humble agave becomes fiery tequila.
Guadalajara

The second largest city in Mexico, Guadalajara is a mixture of modern and ancient. This beautiful, baroque city is a major financial as well as cultural center for historic arts and crafts and is home to several symphonies and five universities. It offers a congenial and more relaxed pace than the big tourist cities and coastal resorts elsewhere in Mexico. Guadalajara also features some of the best shopping—silver, ceramics, weavings, woodwork and leather. Visit its museums, market and famed Orozco murals.
