Weather

No matter when you come, you'll find the weather is simply wonderful. Because of the altitude (5100 feet), it's comfortable all year. To help you plan your stay, here's a peek at our weather averages.

Month Midday Midnight
January & February 70-75 degrees 40-45 degrees The sun-bathing, tropical part of the day is between 10:30am and 4:30pm. Nights and mornings can be chilly so bring warm clothing and dress in layers. Your room has a wood fireplace, but you may also want to bring something warm to sleep in.
March & April 75-85 degrees 45-60 degrees This is our summer, hot and sunny. Along with September and October, it is probably our most beautiful weather as well as best for our flowering trees and plants. Long sunny days, never humid. Summery clothes for daytime; nights can be cool in March.
May & June 80-90 degrees 60-70 degrees Our hottest period, although generally enjoying a mountain breeze. Bring your lightest clothing and a raincoat and sweater. In late June, it starts to rain, tropical style, in the late afternoons.
July & August 70-75 degrees 55-65 degrees Perfect mountain summer weather: rain at night, sun by day (but not too hot). Bring summer clothes, plus a raincoat, sweaters for the evening, and extra shoes in case of getting wet feet.
September & October 70-80 degrees 55-65 degrees Beautiful, temperate, sunny weather. Masses of wild flowers. Still some rain showers or storms (afternoon and night). Bring same clothes as for July and August.
November & December 65-75 degrees 45-50 degrees By mid-November, you can feel winter in the air. It will still be hot at mid-day, but the equinox is past and the days are shortened. Bring your light, summer clothing for midday and warm, heavier clothes (such as jacket, sweater and socks) for evenings and early morning.
