MOVE THAT LYMPH!

What if jumping up and down a few minutes a day contributed to your body’s ability to eliminate toxins, fight off viruses, shed cellulite and make your skin glow? You’d do it, wouldn’t you?

Generally any type of aerobic exercise is good for your lymphatic system, the network of fluid and more than 600 lymph nodes that bring nutrients to the cells and carry away wastes.

At Rio Caliente, there are various opportunities for you to cleanse your lymph: do jumping jacks in the water exercise classes; come and rebound on the trampoline; cleanse in the steam room; or have a head and neck lymphatic drainage treatment.

Our high alkaline, vegetarian menu allows you to avoid mucus forming foods that can clog the lymph nodes, such as animal proteins and processed foods.

At home, to get your lymphatic fluid moving, find yourself a good lymphatic masseuse or use a dry skin brush and stroke the skin in the direction of the heart. For example, you would lightly stroke from your feet to your upper thighs, from your lower abdomen to your chest, from your hands to your upper arms, from your neck towards your chest, etc.

Here's the good news. Lymphatic cleansing reportedly rejuvenates your white blood cells and stimulates the pancreas, thyroid and thymus. You’ll have more energy; more resistance to infection; better digestion; reduced risk of blocked arteries; and better kidney and liver function.

Lymph fluid transports nutrients such as salts, minerals and proteins to every cell of your body as well as carrying away cell wastes and debris. The blood shuttles the wastes to the kidneys, lungs, colon, and skin for elimination.

When the lymphatic system is flowing freely everything is fine. When it backs up, however, not only are your cell building, repair and waste disposal systems affected, your body's defense against foreign substances is also impaired. In addition to filtering out toxic materials, the lymph nodes also produce substances which fight off invading viruses and bacteria.

So remember, keep jumping, keep the lymph fluid moving and don't let toxins build up or abnormal cells develop. And while you're at Rio, flushing out your lymphatic system, you can rest and rejuvenate yourself.
