FEED YOUR CRAVINGS - HEALTHILY

We all crave sweetness. Yet sometimes our indulgences (sugar, chocolate, romance, whatever) do not satisfy the cravings. Think about it. We call our lovers "honey, sugar or sweetie". We overheard guests describe as "very sweet," the youngest member of the marimba band playing at a fiesta on the patio (photo below).

At Rio Caliente, we have a holistic approach to satiating our guests’ cravings for sweetness. We offer a varied “menu” for cravings that may be based in physical, emotional or spiritual yearnings.

You may find yourself craving sugar. Or, if you decide to exercise will power and resist the urges, you may find you are thinking about it obsessively. In the U.S., sugar consumption is reportedly 150 pounds per person, per year and rising.

Glucose (sugar) is the brain’s primary source of energy. If we accept that we have a natural appetite for sweetness that may go back millions of years and be rooted in our survival system, the question is then "How do I satisfy this appetite?"

HANDLE THE PHYSICAL CRAVINGS

Physical cravings may be your body’s way of telling you it is not getting the nutrients it needs. Nutritional factors which contribute to sugar cravings can include:

  • Mineral deficiencies: Test for deficiencies in Chromium, Carbon, Phosphorus, Sulphur, Magnesium or Tryptophan.

  • Protein deficiencies: Find sources of easily absorbable protein and/or eliminate toxins that may interfere with protein absorption.

Rather than feed cravings with sugar, feed them with nutritious fruits, raw and cooked vegetables, nuts and whole grains. And consider supplementing, if necessary, with glutamine (amino acid), vitamin C, magnesium and/or pantothenic acid.

Bioresonance Therapy can help you with sugar cravings. It can also be useful in exploring physical factors that contribute to your sugar cravings. And when you return home, you might even choose to undertake treatments to address factors such as:

  • Parasites or Candida: These invaders feed on sugar and can be eliminated by detox or cleansing programs.

  • Adrenal Fatigue: Stress can contribute to adrenal fatigue, low energy and sugar cravings, according to Chiropractor Dr. Robin Shepperd, who advises calling 1- 800-848-5361 for a referral to your local alternative medicine practitioner who can then test you for the right glandular supplement.

EMOTIONAL OR SPIRITUAL YEARNINGS

Perhaps what you are really craving is emotional or spiritual sweetness - pleasure, connection, abundance, security or comfort.

At Rio Caliente, you will find kindred spirits who are interested in connecting and rediscovering sweetness in their lives; on various levels and in various ways. Twice a year, Rose Ledbetter offers clairvoyant Readings, Spiritual Healing and Psychic Classes.

Reconnect with nature on the hikes or while floating in the warm mineral waters, watching birds soar high above you. In February, astrologer Barbara Schermer brings Astrology Alive, including star gazing from the pool and gardens!

In the yoga classes, as you tilt your pelvis, reawaken to the sweetness of Svadhisthana, the second chakra, the seat of life, whose element is water.

In the pool classes, undulate your hips and you may be pleasantly surprised that the water element connects you to the sweetness of life, to the life force. And it's fun.
