ACID - ALKALINE BALANCE:
Essential to Health
In our March 2005 Newsletter, we reported that much current illness takes place in a body that has become too acidic. An important step to improve health is to restore the body's pH to the desirable range because a healthy alkaline level prevents the creation of conditions friendly to nasty illnesses like arthritis and cancer. The Acid-Alkaline vector measures from 0 to 14pH, the ideal area for health being 6.8 to 7.2 - the balance between the two poles. How do you find out where you are on that vector?
Inexpensive pH test kits are available from pharmacies, health food stores or internet companies. Using test sticks to measure your saliva or urine, you can determine your current pH and you can monitor changes. Make sure you're up near 7.00pH. If you're below 6.00pH, you're way too acidic and you need to lower the acidity of your body by eating an alkaline-forming diet and drinking water with a high pH. A good source for which foods alkalize and which acidify you, is the book Prescription for Nutritional Healing by Dr. Balch, published by Avery.
High alkaline-forming foods include: green tea, kidney and soy beans, natural yoghurt, bananas, spinach, ginger, shitake mushrooms, and sea algae (wakame and kombu are good in soups).
Medium alkalizing foods include: egg whites, carrots, cabbage, squash, potatoes, cucumber, onions, strawberries, apples, pears, watermelon, ginger, avocadoes, grapefruit, grapes, dates and apricots.
Very Acidifying foods include: dried fish, egg yolks, fish and seafood, chicken, alcohol, white flour products, soft drinks, white sugar, peanuts and oatmeal (or eat it with sea salt, as the Scots do). |

You can increase the alkalinity of your drinking water by squeezing generous amounts of fresh lemon into it. Another option is to install a water ionizer to alkalize your water (check the internet for more about these machines). Also be aware that plastic bottles can acidify water. In our August 2003 Newsletter we featured The Mexican Acidity/Arthritis Home Cure. It takes seventeen days and should not be repeated for six months. It would be a good idea to acquire some pH test strips and see where your acid/alkaline level is before and after doing this protocol.
Always BEFORE breakfast:
On day 1, drink the juice of one lemon.
On day 2, drink the juice of two lemons.
On day 3, drink the juice of three lemons.
On day 4, drink the juice of four lemons.
On day 5, drink the juice of five lemons.
And on, up to day 9.
Then it’s the same principle working backwards, again always BEFORE breakfast:
On day 10, drink the juice of eight lemons.
On day 11, drink the juice of seven lemons.
On day 12, drink the juice of six lemons.
On day 13, drink the juice of five lemons.
Continue this pattern, decreasing to one lemon by day 17.
Paradoxically, the bitter lemon juice alkalizes your system. Much success is reported in ameliorating the symptoms of arthritis.
Negative Ionization
The ion we speak of is that of the oxygen atom. We all know we can't live without oxygen/air (and we mean clean air). Air overcharged with the opposing positive ions is not good for us, making us tired, unfocussed and even ill - which is the case with contaminated city air, and every eleven years (according to French research) with the sunspot cycle.
So what will negatively charged oxygen ions do for us, in air or in water or even in the form of an electrically transmitted frequency?
I. They purify the blood by alkalizing it via the calcium and natrum (salt) ions.
II. They activate cellular function, improving the elimination of waste. (Both I and II are particularly important in the avoidance of cancer, we understand.)
III. They increase gamma globulin in the blood and thus increment immune function via the antibodies.
IV. According to Japanese research, they also balance the insulin and adrenal functions for further disease resistance.
V. And, the Japanese claim, they can relieve pain, assist sleep and enhance memory!
